Croatian SMEs
The Small and Medium Enterprise sector is the backbone of every economy.
According to the 2022 Country report for Croatia, the European Commission concludes that prior to the COVID-19 crisis, Croatia’s economy showed positive trends. Growth was steady, public finances improved substantially and public and private indebtedness declined. Growing export market shares showed that Croatia’s companies were gaining competitiveness. Both employment and investment levels increased, helping Croatia’s economy to converge toward EU standards.
Nevertheless, stronger potential growth is still hampered by low productivity. Low allocative efficiency, a cumbersome business environment and an inefficient public sector continue to have a major impact on total factor productivity.
To encourage further growth and development, the European Commission has been promoting the importance of standards and standardisation in supporting innovation, growth and competitiveness throughout Europe through various communications and guidelines.
The result of this engagement and encouragement for small and medium-sized enterprises to develop competencies is the ADMA TranS4MErs project.
